Honoring Our Elders: A Joyful National Senior Citizens Day

At The Green House® Cottages of Poplar Grove, we believe in celebrating the incredible lives and contributions of our elders every day—but August 21, National Senior Citizens Day, is a particularly special occasion. Established in 1988 by President Ronald Reagan through Proclamation 5847, this day is dedicated to recognizing the invaluable role senior citizens play in shaping our communities and enriching our lives.

This year, our celebration was filled with love, laughter, and a whole lot of excitement. The highlight of the day was a vibrant parade, where our elders cheered on their favorite vehicles with joy and enthusiasm. We are deeply grateful to the wonderful organizations that came together to make this event so memorable: the TOTE Foundation, VFW Post 4548 Unit 5 Riders Group, Dixie Car Club, Central Arkansas Mustangers, and the Central Arkansas Corvette Club. Their participation brought smiles, energy, and a true sense of community to our celebration.

It was a beautiful day that reminded us all of the importance of honoring and appreciating the wisdom, spirit, and legacy of our elders.
